ECONOMICALLY SPEAKING

Note: I was made to read this article by Dadu so that i pursue with Economics for higher studies.

First things first. Why study Economics anyways?
Well for starters because you have to study something that will give you a remote chance at a great career or perhaps because you enjoy making simple things complicated. Jokes apart a very sound reason to be the fact that everyhting in life relates to it in some way or the other. The field is vast and accordingly there are opportunities galore. Another plausible reason could be that you want to chalk out the destiny of the nation and the world, because economics goes into virtually every kind of planning.
In fact everything in life somehow relates to it. And that is why the subject has gained such diverse dimensions over the years. Now economics is associated with virtually every subject. You have sports economics, Bio- economics, economic psychology, economic sociology, institutional economics and economic geography.
More countries are headed by economists than by any other professional. Our own country is one!
Go ahead and take the plunge. Who knows you may become the next Manmohan Singh or Amartya Sen. As a matter of fact it is one of the very few subjects that make you eligible for a Nobel. Isn't that a good enough reason?

  1. so true...and being a student and a fan of Economics myself... couldnt agree more...I have had my association with this subject for 7 years and never once i got bored of it, be it econometrics, micro or macro economics, international trade or even economic philosophy! (yes, we had a paper by that name during our Masters!!!)... each and every topic within ECONOMICS is interesting in itself!
